The next chapter in SKINARI’s laser technology

Precision-focused technology.
Thoughtful aesthetic care.

Picosecond lasers use exceptionally short pulses of light to target certain types of pigment in the skin. Treatment decisions depend on the type of pigment, its location, skin characteristics and individual suitability.

At SKINARI in downtown Barrie, we believe advanced technology should be paired with careful assessment, realistic expectations and clear aftercare guidance. This page introduces our planned service; it is not an invitation to book a Pico treatment before launch.

Pico laser applications

Explore what Pico laser may address

Two focused pathways. Each begins with an assessment, rather than a promise of a particular result.

Pico Tattoo Removal

Picosecond laser technology can target blue-black tattoo pigment and break it into smaller particles that the body gradually clears. Fading depends on ink characteristics, tattoo depth, skin type and previous treatments.

  • Assessment of the tattoo and its treatment history
  • Blue-black tattoo pigment
  • Gradual fading over a treatment course
  • Individual planning, aftercare and follow-up

The manufacturer’s stated application is blue-black skin tattoos on Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV. Complete removal, all-colour removal and scar-free results are not guaranteed.

Pico Pigmentation Treatment

Selected benign pigmented lesions may be suitable for picosecond laser treatment. The appropriate approach depends on the type and depth of pigmentation, your skin characteristics and an appropriate clinical assessment.

  • Consultation-led pigmentation assessment
  • Targeted pigment applications
  • Individual suitability review
  • Treatment-course discussion and aftercare planning

The manufacturer’s stated application is benign pigmented lesions on Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV. A brown spot is not a diagnosis; suspicious or undiagnosed lesions need medical assessment first.

Ask about pigmentation

Freckles & Sunspot Concerns

Freckles and sun-related pigmentation can have different causes. Certain benign pigmented lesions may be candidates for laser treatment, but the diagnosis and suitability must be established first. This is part of pigmentation assessment, not a separate promised treatment.

Tattoo Fading Assessment

Considering lightening an existing tattoo? A consultation can help establish its colours, age, previous treatment history and whether the device’s documented indication is appropriate. This follows the same tattoo assessment pathway.

Have another pigmentation concern? Contact SKINARI to discuss it. Some conditions require medical assessment or a different approach; not every concern is appropriate for laser treatment.

Understanding the technology

How does Pico laser work?

A short pulse. A targeted interaction. Change over time.

Conceptual 3D illustration. Pigment and tissue are simplified and not to scale; this is not a treatment result or an operating guide.
  1. 01

    Target

Specific laser wavelengths interact with targeted pigment. The appropriate wavelength and treatment depend on the pigment and the intended application.

  2. 02

    Fragment

Extremely short picosecond pulses generate rapid photoacoustic effects that can break targeted pigment into smaller fragments.

  3. 03

    Gradual Clearance

Biological processes help clear some fragmented pigment over time. Visible changes and the number of required visits vary.

Picosecond refers to the very short duration of each laser pulse. The process is not entirely heat-free, and surrounding tissue can still be injured.

Pico laser at SKINARI · Coming soon

Advanced technology, with care at its centre.

Our selected picosecond laser device is listed under an active Health Canada medical device licence. We’re preparing a focused service for selected blue-black tattoos and benign pigmentation concerns, guided by individual assessment.

Device licensing does not endorse SKINARI or its operators and does not establish suitability for every person or treatment. Equipment-specific training and launch readiness will be confirmed before Pico bookings open.

Different systems. Different purposes.

Pico laser and laser hair removal are different treatments

Both technologies use laser energy, but they serve different purposes. SKINARI’s existing laser hair removal treatments are designed for hair reduction. Pico laser uses a separate picosecond system for selected pigment and tattoo applications.

The two services are not interchangeable. Our current hair-removal appointment links do not book the planned Pico service.

Your treatment journey · After launch

A considered approach,
from consultation to aftercare

  1. 01

    Consultation

Discuss your concern, relevant history, previous treatments and expectations. Some pigmented lesions need assessment by an appropriately qualified medical professional before cosmetic laser treatment.

  2. 02

    Suitability

Review the intended application, skin characteristics, contraindications, risks and alternatives. Not everyone will be a suitable candidate.

  3. 03

    Individual Treatment

When appropriate and available after launch, treatment will follow documented device indications and an individual professional plan, with appropriate laser safety precautions.

  4. 04

    Healing & Follow-up

Temporary skin responses and recovery vary. Follow-up and aftercare will be specific to the treatment performed; no fixed number of visits or recovery period is promised.

Safety & suitability

Your skin deserves careful consideration

Assessment looks at your skin and pigmentation characteristics, medical and medication history, sun exposure or tanning, irritation or infection, scarring history and previous treatments. Tattoo ink characteristics, expectations and alternatives matter too.

Share any photosensitizing medications with the practitioner. This overview is not a substitute for professional screening.

Understand the potential risks

Laser treatment may cause temporary redness, swelling, discomfort or pigment darkening. Other complications include blistering, burns, infection, changes in skin pigmentation, scarring and eye injury without proper protection. Individual risks vary.

Suspicious, changing or undiagnosed pigmented lesions should be evaluated by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before cosmetic laser treatment.

A little more clarity

Frequently asked questions

Good decisions begin with good questions.

What is a picosecond laser?

A picosecond laser delivers extremely short pulses of light. In selected pigment applications, these pulses can produce photoacoustic effects that fragment targeted pigment.

Is Pico laser the same as laser hair removal?

No. The planned Pico system system is for selected tattoo and pigmentation applications. Our existing laser hair removal uses a different approach focused on hair reduction. The two services are not interchangeable.

Can Pico laser remove an entire tattoo?

Some tattoos can fade substantially, but complete removal cannot be guaranteed. Results depend on the tattoo, ink colours, skin characteristics and treatment history.

Can the Pico system remove coloured tattoos?

The manufacturer’s stated application supplied for our planned Pico system is blue-black tattoo removal. Other ink colours require confirmation of the exact device indications and individual suitability; we are not advertising all-colour removal.

Can Pico laser treat freckles and sunspots?

Certain benign pigmented lesions may be appropriate, but the exact type of pigmentation and individual suitability must be established first. Suspicious or undiagnosed lesions need medical assessment before cosmetic laser treatment.

Can Pico laser treat melasma?

Melasma needs particular care. Laser treatment is not appropriate for every case and can sometimes worsen pigmentation. Medical assessment and an individual treatment plan may be necessary. Melasma treatment is not a confirmed part of SKINARI’s planned Pico service.

Does Pico laser work on every skin tone?

No universal suitability should be assumed. The manufacturer’s stated applications supplied for the planned Pico system specify Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV. Device indications and individual skin characteristics need review; suitability outside those stated indications is not assumed.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies with the concern, goals and individual response. A reliable estimate requires an appropriate consultation; we do not promise a fixed course.

Is Pico laser painful?

Sensation varies with the application and individual sensitivity. Discomfort and temporary skin reactions are possible. The practitioner should discuss treatment risks and comfort measures beforehand.

Is there downtime?

Recovery depends on the treatment and individual skin response. Temporary redness or swelling can occur, and some applications involve additional healing. No fixed recovery period is guaranteed.

Can Pico laser remove old eyebrow microblading?

Cosmetic tattoo pigments can behave differently from conventional tattoo ink. Eyebrow pigments need separate assessment and confirmation of the device’s intended use. SKINARI is not currently advertising Pico permanent makeup removal.

Is the planned Pico device Health Canada licensed?

The selected picosecond laser device is listed under an active Health Canada medical device licence. Device licensing does not establish individual treatment suitability or endorse SKINARI or its operators.

Where is SKINARI located?

SKINARI is at 89 Dunlop Street East, Unit 103, in downtown Barrie, Ontario. This is our physical studio; we do not operate additional branches in surrounding towns.

How can I enquire about Pico laser?

Contact SKINARI about the planned service. Our machine is awaiting delivery and Pico treatment bookings are not open. Appointment links will be introduced only once the service is ready and approved for launch.
